The apple corer and peeler has proved very useful this autumn as we have a Bramley tree in the garden. It peels efficiently provided the fruit is of regular shape, and cores well (though Bramleys have a wide core and I've sometimes had to take a little extra off). It doesn't actually slice the apple but cuts it into a coil. I'd recommend it to anyone who's fed up with prepping the autumn glut of apples by hand.
