An excellent product that was purchased to replace an old, beautiful (but sadly, now rotten beyond use) oak barrel. We have many ordinary-style water butts located around the garden in non-prominent places. They blend into the surroundings and you'd hardly notice them. But the oak barrel was in a very prominent place, so any replacement had to look good. I was dubious about ordering a plastic one and dithered for ages! However, my fears were unjustified. This water butt is located next to a path by the house and sits on a wooden stand that was made for the oak barrel, (not the 'ordinary' and obviously very plastic-looking base offered here - it would, perhaps detract from the oak-style butt?) Whilst this oak effect butt will never look as pleasing as the 'real thing' and the price is eye-wateringly expensive, I'd say, Go for it!
This butt looks very good, it is replacing a wooden butt, and I need not have worried about a "plastic" effect. However, wish it had some holes in it for fitting to the rainwater diverter. Drilling them proved a bit tricky.
The butt replaced an old oak barrel which was gradually falling to pieces, and this butt seemed an ideal replacement, but I was worried that it would look 'plastic'! I need not have worried, tucked in a corner it looks good, and most of all it works. Great to have a lid, as I was forever trying to unblock the old butt, now a piece of cake! I would not hesitate to recommend it
