Ants in Plastic Compost Bin
I have ants in my plastic compost bin. When I tried to take the door at the bottom of the bin off to dig out some compost they were everywhere... Will the nematode work if I water through the compost bin from the top? If not do you have another suggestion?
Many thanks
Penny
Thanks for your e-mail.
The ant nematodes do not kill the ants but disperse them to other areas, watering them in from the top may drive them out but there is a danger they could return. You may need to apply more than once and water in thoroughly after applications.
I would also suggest applying some Agrothrin ant powder around the base, top and door to deter new ants entering the compost bin. I hope this helps.
