We were very excited to visit BBC Gardener’s World on the 16th June, and this year we were fortunate enough to be approached by some incredibly talented garden designers!

The Secret Homestead, Lucy Hutchings

This garden closed the gap between ornamental gardens and typical ‘grow your own’ gardens. This design only included plants that were edible, most of which grown from seed by Lucy herself at her Suffolk Homestead. Through this design, Lucy aimed to hone in on the beauty of vegetables and how they can be utilised to create a visually stunning edible garden.

It was great to see a couple of our Southwold Collection, Backless Benches as well as our Roman Garden Arches featuring on The Secret Homestead!

Beautiful Borders

Beautiful Borders are great inspiration for those looking to make the garden of their dreams in a smaller space. We were amazed by the creativity of those with beautiful borders and how they could turn a sometimes challanging space into an idyllic garden.

Love Yourself & Nature Retreat, Ben Thornton

Bursting full of vibrant colours, the ‘Love Yourself & Nature Retreat’ was Ben Thornton’s first Beautiful Border at the show. Within the planting you can find a mix of stunning annuals and perennials which acted as a haven for the wildlife. His garden was massively uplifting, especially in the bright sunshine and you can see how Ben has created a retreat to escape from the outside world.

The Love Yourself and Nature Retreat embodies Ben’s lifechanging journey and shows that having a disability does not mean that you can’t have the gardens of your dreams.

Ben also went on to win a Platinum Award for his design!

 …and Breathe, Claire Morrell

Next up, and winner of Best Beautiful Border 2023, ‘…and Breathe’ by Claire Morrell.
Planted with entirely white blooms and climbers, this border offered a tranquil space to unwind and take in the beautiful scents of the planting.

The Moon Gate Arch has been covered with Jasmine to create the perfect ornamental feature in the garden and partnered with two Round Rust Wire Obelisks either side for a more formally arranged border.

It was a pleasure to see ‘…and Breathe’ and take in the beautiful scent coming from the array of delicate white blooms.
