These easy to grow Organic Early Jalapeno Chilli peppers produce elliptical-shaped fruits packed full of flavour and can be harvested green or allowed to mature to red. A characteristic ‘corking’ pattern of crack markings can develop on the skin of the fruit as it reaches full size.

When they reach about 20cm in height you can pinch off the growing tips of the plant, this will encourage a bushier plant with more peppers. The plant grows upright and can reach 60cm high bearing fruit up to 7.5cm long. To give them a little support you can train them up a bamboo cane.

The wonderful thing about these is that you can pick them at whatever stage you like – they’ll start out green and gradually change colour. Bear in mind, that the more often you pick them, the more the plant will keep growing more.

Jalapenos are traditionally used to make nachos, pickles and used on pizza toppings, they can also be stuffed with cheese to make Jalapeno ‘poppers’.
