Our plans are already well underway for our Kitchen Garden next year, but as ever a lot has to be considered such as crop rotation, testing new varieties and including new products. Our early plans look great and we can't wait to see it come to fruition.
The Kitchen Garden has always been at the cornerstone of Harrod Horticultural and has provided the ideal location for photography, testing new products and primarily providing bountiful harvests every year.
In 2024 we are adding more metal planters, plant supports and support frames to the layout along with new some new fruit bushes in the Peak Roof Fruit Cage. We are also trialling some new varieties throughout the garden, including new squashes, carrot varieties along with some fragrant new herbs. Really looking forward to our strawberry trough planters again next year, had a great harvest from them this year and is definitely one of the favourite fruits from the garden.
The planned kitchen garden overview can be seen below:

It's great having a overview plan like this to work from, but we are fortunate to have a very artistic designer in our Harrod team who has put together a great visualisation of how the Kitchen Garden will look later in the year - we think it looks great and really gives you some optimism of what we can look forward to in the warmer spring and summer months.
Although it's all still at the early planning stage, we are starting work in the background to bring the plan to life. Keep an eye on our blog over the coming weeks and months for more updates and more visualisations of the kitchen garden. Follow our blog throughout the year to see how it all comes together. The joy of gardening is that every year seems to throw up different trials and tribulations, successes and failures and there is always something new to learn.
We have been looking back at some of our pictures from last year and have some great drone images and a video of the Kitchen Garden during its peak last summer - hope you enjoy the quick virtual tour...
We look forward to the year ahead, let's hope for a bit more normality in our lives and wish you all the best on your own gardening journey!
Happy gardening!
