Kitchen Garden Project
Mrs Moody contacted our bespoke made-to-measure department as a new customer after finding us through a Google search. She researched kitchen garden designs on the internet and grew fruit and vegetables at her previous residence. A catalogue was ordered from us in early January 2020 to research our full kitchen garden range of products and solutions.
After moving to a Georgian Manor House with a rose garden and an orchard already in place in the garden, Mrs Moody identified a 25m run to the left of the orchard she wished to turn into a Kitchen Garden. She missed growing her own in a small vegetable plot in her previous garden and once the manor house was partly rebuilt and rennovated, the next focus was the garden project.
The Harrod Horticultural bespoke department were asked to suggest standard and made to measure products to fit the 25m plot to bring Mrs Moody's dream kitchen garden to life. Originally wooden railway sleepers were planned for the kitchen garden but at quote stage we provided details of our bespoke superior raised beds and sizes and Mrs Moody was happy to select this product to proceed with. Four 16ftx4ft 1 tier bespoke superior raised beds and four 16ftx4ft 2 tier bespoke superior raised beds were added to the kitchen garden plan. The raised beds are protected from pests with 8 hoop and butterfly net cover kits.
The greenhouse in the middle of the plot at the back was ordered from Alitex and needed planning permission due to the address being in a conservation area. There are also some trug planters with covers in the garden and a shed from a different supplier.
A fruit cage for the kitchen garden was the next product to add to the plan. A 17.5m flat roof steel fruit cage was quoted for with CAD drawings from our design and development team. Mrs Moody selected a standard size 5m x 5m peak roof decorative fruit cage for the design to grow blackcurrants, redcurrants and gooseberries in because this product was more in-keeping with the traditional Victorian kitchen garden style.
A bespoke 2m x 25m linked arch was also added to the plan to provide a tunnel walkway to grow plants over the arches. The tunnel walkway has a bespoke blacksmiths gateway 94 inches wide at the entrance.
Mrs Moody comments "I found the customer service experience provided by Harrod Horticultural excellent and Amanda in the bespoke customer services team provided an exemplarary service. She was very efficient, friendly and helpful when assisting with our order. I would recommend Harrod Horticultural to anyone looking into a new kitchen garden project"
