Product Reviews
I bought four of these trays for a very specific purpose. I have a 2m long by 60cm wide heat mat in the greenhouse and I wanted these trays to make 'heat reservoirs'. ie I filled them with sharp-sand and this would retain the heat for a far longer period , once heated. I chose these particular trays because of their reported size. ie 64.5cms X 50cms. Four in a row would be ideal, covering the length of the mat and the width would also be fully covered. Unfortunately there was two things wrong with this. First is that the width is not 50cms but only 49cms. Second, what the product info fails to mention is that the measurements are taken at the top of the tray but the bottom of the trays are a lot smaller. ie 60cms X 45cms This misinformation has resulted in there being big (any gap is 'big' when one is trying to maximise heat output) gaps, not only between the bases of the trays (3 gaps of 8cms X 60cms ie 12% of my heat mat is losing the heat to the air) but also the tops of the trays. Now the products themselves are well made and easily hold all the sand I need. I have them in use and, despite the heat loss they are standing up to the job in hand.
Many thanks for your feedback, which we greatly appreciate. The measurements have now been amended online.
We use the small size tray in the hall as a parking bay for outdoor shoes
As other reviewers have stated these trays are VERY sturdy and well worth every penny. I plan to try growing some salad leaves on the balcony with these and they look like they'll hold up to the job nicely. I'm certain that I'll get more of these trays in the future.
