Nemasys Chafer Grub Killer will put a stop to the lawn-decimating activities of Chafer Grubs and also help bring to a halt the secondary lawn damage cause by birds, foxes and badgers as they attempt to dig up the grubs to eat. Due to the lifecycle of the chafer grubs, only a small application window for the Nemasys Chafer Grub Killer exists; you'll need to water in the tiny microscopic worms between August to September and ensure temperatures are above 12ºC for a successful cull.

Product Reviews
I ordered on a Tuesday and the delivery came on Friday. This was great as I was able to refrigerate on receipt from the postman. The application was fiddly. It took a long time with measuring and mixing and washing in. However, it was well worth it as my lawn is much improved.
Having found that half of the lawn was infected I selected this product to use. Application was easy . The bird activity on the lawn is decreasing as I write and I am waiting to see what the results are going to be next year.
Although it was stated that the product had to be watered in, I did not discoiver how arduous and labour-intensive this would be, until I received full instructions on the packets. As I am over 80 years old, it was extremely exhausting using a watering can so many times. Luckily I had retained an irrigation hose when I down-sized, so this saved the doubly arduous job to water in with the double quantity of further watering required. My neighbours thought I was mad irrigating the lawn when it was raining all day! Let's hope all my hard work has paid off; I imagine I will not know until next year. The magpies mainly stopped digging up my lawn, which hopefully is a good sign.

Application Advice
Full details of how to apply the nematodes are provided with the product but we can't stress how important it is to keep the soil moist after application. Failure to do so will severely reduce the effectiveness of the nematodes and they may even die. Ensure you water the soil or lawn immediately after application and keep damp for at least the next two weeks.
As this product has a very definite application window (when the young chafer grubs are most active), we refrain from supplying this product outside of these times when it is unlikely to prove effective.

Chafer Grubs
They attack grass roots. Grass growth slows and yellow patches appear. Grass is easily pulled up, with little or no root growth.
Wildlife, such as foxes and badgers, can also create a lot of damage as they dig up your lawn in search of grubs for food.
Rooks, magpies, crows and woodpeckers feeding on your lawn are a good sign of a chafer grub infestation.
Chafer beetles emerge from the lawn. They lay their eggs, which hatch into grubs feeding on the grass roots before burrowing deep into the ground. They then lie dormant deep in the soil before moving to the surface in the spring to emerge as beetles again.
There is no chemical control for chafer grubs.
If the chafer's life cycle is not broken re-infestation occurs and the problem gets progressively worse.
Use Nemasys Chafer grub Killer to deal with a chafer grub infestation.
Chafer Grub Killer
Apply to moist lawns during August and early September. This is when the young grub larvae are active and the temperature is above 12ºC (54ºF).
Immediately after applying the nematodes, water the grass well so the nematodes are washed into the soil to reach the roots where the chafer grubs will be. Make sure the lawn does not dry out after applying nematodes. Keep the lawn well watered for at least two weeks.
Do not apply later than September, since the grubs start to move down deeper in the soil and become inactive until the following spring.
The nematodes (Heterorhabditis bacteriophora) seek out the chafer grubs and attack the pest by entering natural body openings. Once inside, they release bacteria that stops the pest from feeding, quickly killing the pest. They do not stop there. The nematodes reproduce inside the dead pest and release a new generation of hungry infective nematodes, which disperse and search for further prey.
