Organic Charles Ross Apple is a good-looking large dual-purpose dessert apple, a sweet flavoured eater that bakes well with a yellow green flushed and striped warm orange red skin similar to Cox.
Charles Ross apples are round in shape but maybe slightly conical, a trouble free reliable variety that will grow well in most parts of the UK. Available on Moderate Vigour (MM106) and Semi Dwarfing (M26) Rootstock, this organic apple is ready to harvest mid-September and can be stored until December in the right conditions.

Planting - do not attempt to plant your fruit trees when the ground is frozen or waterlogged. The trees can be stored in their packaging in an outbuilding or garage for 2-3 days, or can be heeled into the soil where the ground is not as frozen. Alternatively, plant up in large pots or containers and ensure the roots have good contact with the soil.

Six of the Best
An all-purpose apple, this is one of my early season favourites. Slightly less sweet than other popular varieties such as 'Discovery'. It also cooks beautifully, keeping its shape, so makes a fine tarte Tatin. The juice is aromatic and sweet. Truly one apple to rule them all. - Fruit Expert, David Patch
