I came across an article in the Telegraph recently, and very interesting it is too!
Not least because it's penned by my fellow Oaklands College old boy Tom Petherick, who was part of the Class of 1989-91. Tom obviously paid more attention at college than I did, and his thoughts on protecting and enhancing the precious commodity of soil are very pertinent.
According to the article, Tom's another advocate of the no-dig policy - very topical in the current spell of summer weather we're 'enjoying' - and makes some very valid points regarding crop rotation, composting and the use of raised beds.
It's pleasing to see that most of Tom's advice and techniques are already practised in our own Kitchen Garden and it's certainly reminded us how important it is to care for our soil - organically.
