There'll be no crying when you see the results of growing organic Ramrod spring onions, as this very popular overwintering variety is much feted by grow-your-owners across the country. A crisp and very tasty addition to salads, Ramrod onions can be cropped in spring (after overwintering), late summer and autumn and have the distinctive, Lisbon-type, long white stems and green tops.
Tender and mild to taste when young, the bulbs can left to swell and develop a much stronger flavour if desired.

- Seeds certified organic by the Soil Association
- Relatively easy crop to grow as generally unaffected by pests and diseases
- Sow from early spring onwards for continual crops
- An early autumn sowing should result in seedlings large enough to overwinter
- Sow seed 1-2cm deep, 1cm apart and leave 30cm between rows
- Onions are traditionally used to cure ailments and can be an aid to lower cholesterol levels
