A slightly sweeter and less overpowering alternative to the onion in warming winter soups and broths - and summer salads of course - leeks are quite happy to stand throughout the winter until required - giving you that unique, just-harvested taste. Tadorna possesses a particularly good ability to stand overwinter and produces medium to long white shafts which contrast wonderfully with the dark green flags.
