The innovative frame offers protection throughout the year with the addition of a choice of Fleece, Polyethylene and Insect Mesh Covers. Fleece Cover Only
This heavy duty fleece cover is light enough to be placed easily over your Popadome Frame and protects your plants against frost and stops wind, hail, birds and insects damaging your plants. Made from strong spun bonded 60gsm permeable fleece which is tear resistant and UV stabilised for long life, it will help to warm up the soil for earlier harvesting of crops and protects against freezing temperatures. A zipper is incorporated in the design which lines up with the main Popadome Frame zipper, ensuring easy access to the protected growing area.
Polyethylene Cloche Cover Only
Protect young seedlings and established plants from frost with the addition of a heavy duty Polyethylene Cover which fits snugly on top of the Popadome Frame (above) and acts as a mini greenhouse or cloche to keep the plants in a warmer environment. Made from UV stabilised heavy duty polyethylene, it incorporates a zipper in the design which lines up with the main Popadome Frame zipper, ensuring easy access to the protected growing area.
Insect Mesh Cover Only
A superb solution for the protection of your plants from smaller flying insects, this insect mesh netting cover fits easily over the top of the Popadome Frame (above). The fine 50gsm insect netting is made from 1mm mesh and stops pests such as carrot fly and cabbage root fly from damaging your plants. A zipper is incorporated in the design which lines up with the main Popadome Frame zipper, ensuring easy access to the protected growing area.
Product Reviews
For the last few years, I have been using the Frame & Butterfly Netting, in combination with the fleece covers, during winter to give frost-protection to young sub-tropical tree species. The popadomes themselves are well made. However, my main reservation is with the supplied soil-anchoring pegs they are too short at 20 cm (8inch length to securely fix them to the ground, particularly if you have a deep loamy soil or windy conditions. Furthermore, the pegs become very rusty after only one or two years of winter-use. It means I have had to make my own pegs (35 cm, 14inch), from galvanized fencing-wire (3.15 mm diameter), and these have lasted for more than 5 years without any visible sign of corrosion. It is also worth mentioning that the pegs for the much larger 2m x 2m frame (GNE-367) are also supplied with the same peg size again clearly inadequate. In future, may I suggest you supply a set of both short and longer pegs with the 'popadome kit', so the customer can choose the most appropriate one for their soil and site conditions. I have 3 popadomes, now some years old. They have done good service. Alas, one is no more - the housing for the poles fell apart, so I now have just poles and pegs and a storage bag. The second is going the same way, so this is its last season. So next season I'll just have one usable When are you going to offer replacement covers? That would be wonderful for your many customers in the same situation?
Many thanks for your product review, we do already supply replacement covers GNE-362/363 and 364 for fleece, poly and insect mesh. But for butterfly netting you could use our soft butterfly mesh GNE-070P. Hope this helps and thanks again for your review which we greatly appreciate.
