Product Reviews
Although this frame is very strong and well designed I am afraid that I did not like the use of the netting very much. I had to plant the beans inside the netting which was a bit difficult as the plants were about 2-21/2feet high which meant that quite a few snapped off. Next year I may go back to using canes for supporting the bean plants. As to the frame itself, it is very good and I give it 10 out of 10. P.S. I have never thought of using cable ties to fix things together in the garden before but wow!!! much easier than tying with string.
I am disappointed with this support frame. The first I received had a badly bent long bar. It was quickly replaced but the second was very slightly bent too. This, I felt, didn't bode well for its resilience in use. The second problem I've found is that in my soil, which is reasonably loose, it's very difficult to get the frame far enough into the ground to be sure that it will be stable - and certainly not as far as is indicated by the design. This, I think, is because the legs are so thick. Also the netting seems very thin to support the weight of runner beans but I'm prepared to be convinced as the season goes on. In conclusion, I wish I had chosen Harrods' other design for runner bean supports and selected my own thicker netting.
We found the springs to be placed in the poles themselves not always reliable at popping out through the holes provided. We are concerned about the net causing problems to the birds so had to string the frame by putting a plastic rope along the bottom. A previous frame we used for years had horizontal tubing all around the base of the frame which made it easy to do this.
